Prepare these early since some, like vaccination certificates, take time to arrange.
Every pilgrim needs a passport with enough remaining validity, the approved visa or group confirmation letter, and a return ticket that fits inside the visa's validity window. Keep your passport in good physical condition, since damaged pages can cause delays at Iraqi immigration counters that are already handling very high pilgrim volumes during Ashura and Arbaeen.
Pakistan requires travelers leaving the country to carry a valid Polio (OPV) vaccination certificate, generally valid for twelve months, obtainable from designated government vaccination centers or airport health counters. Carry this alongside your passport, since it can be checked at departure. It is separate from any Iraq-side entry requirement, so confirm both with your travel agent.
With most pilgrims now required to travel through registered group organizers, keep a copy of your group's registration and your operator's Iraq contact number. Hotel or mawkeb booking confirmations for Najaf, Karbala and any other stop on your itinerary are useful to carry, both for your own planning and in case immigration or hotel staff ask for proof of where you are staying.
